It's a fact that the life expectancy of kids toys are short but we have to face the reality; with the high pricing cost of basic commodities nowadays it is really not practical for us to buy toys frequently to replace broken ones. It is therefore important that we teach our kids how to maintain their toys. We know that at one point those toys will be broken but what we could do is to extend the life span of those toys.

We should start by keeping track of how many and what kinds of toys of our kids have. Let us have a record which contains information such as when we bought it and when it was broken. You could also include when a toy is lost or if it would be found. It is like a record of incoming and outgoing toys from our kid

So why do we need to have a record? From our record we could easily find out details. How long one toy does lasts in my kid? How frequent do we buy them toys? The record would tell the toy-playing-and-breaking-pattern of our kids.

The next step is to watch our kids when they play with their toys. We should observe closely if our kids intentionally break their toys. In some cases, kids' toys will get damaged because they played it too much, which is not really bad but if this happens frequent, we should talk to our kids and tell them the value of their toys. It is never too early to teach our children responsibility

We could tell them that taking care of their toy is like us taking care of them. But let us be worthy models for our kids. If our kids see us not organized with our own stuff how could they follow us if we do not practice what we preach?

We should remember that maintaining kids' toys is a process, take it one step at a time. We should start by having a "toy box" where our kids will place their toy once they finish playing with it. Another good way on promoting to our kids how to take care of their toys is taking part of their "toy maintenance" like joining them when they are wiping their toys wit when it gathered dust. We should make them feel that they could have fun when they maintain their toys.

To sum it up, we must remember that we do not just leave toys to our kids for them to play with until they get broken then we would but them new one. Let us play with our kids and be a part of their lives. One best way to inculcate to our kids the value of responsibility is when we established good relationship with them which is could develop when we join them play and maintain their toys.

Toddler toys are perfect for the development of our children. These toys allow them to explore and help aid in their development. I am not an expert in the field of toys for toddlers. I am just a work from home mom who takes my role as a parent very seriously. As we all should. It is an honor and a privilege to have children. So everything matters and is equally important.

I have done the proper research and asked our pediatrician about the "right" toddler toys. I guess there is no right toy exactly. You could say the best toys that will help them to develop. It really is just a matter of my opinion and advice that I would like to share with all of you. These are only suggestions for you to try with your toddler. Always feel free to do your own research. You should always investigate a toy in my opinion, especially for expensive toy purchases. I have some great tips that I like to do before I buy any toddler toys for my son. It's a shame to spend a large amount of money on a toy, only to find out it's not worth the money you spent.

Tips to consider before you purchase Toddler Toys

Research the toy.

You can go online and Google any toy that you may be interested in. You can find ratings and reviews about the product. It is actually quite surprising to read what other parents may have written about the toy. They rate and review the toy after they have purchased it and their toddler played with it. You can find out whether or not it would make a good purchase. Read all the reviews. You will find good and bad about any item but, it still may give you an idea. I researched a toy before I purchased it. Ignoring the reviews, I bought it anyway and the reviews were dead on and I ended up regretting the purchase. So be wise and use the resources available to you.

The Mom Test

What I mean by this is actually go to the store and look at the toy. Feel it, play with it examine it closely. Ask yourself questions about the toy:

• How is the toy made? Is it cheaply made? Is it sturdy and strong?


• Will it break easily?


• What are the age recommendations?


• Is it worth the price?


• Are the parts too small?


• How long are they going to play with it before they outgrow it?

You would be amazed at how you can see toddler toys online and then when you see them in the store they look completely different. This has happened to me more times than I can count. So inspect carefully.

The Toddler Test

Allow your child to look at the toy and see if they even like it. I am guilty of this one. I was famous for buying toys that I thought were so cute and wanted my toddler to enjoy. He didn't even like them or play with them. It sometimes ended up being a waste. Well as you can read from my site, I do not like to waste money. So see if your toddler will even play with the toy in question. Again, you may be pleasantly surprised either way.

Try and get the Best Price

When it comes to toddler toys, I am all about saving money. Well I like to save money in general. You have got to shop around. If you purchase an expensive toy, make sure your toddler will get the proper use out of it.

The reason for this is that they will outgrow them before you know it. My three year old will refer to some of his old toddler toys as "baby toys". It is so cute but he is right. Shop within reason and think about how long they are going to actually play with the toy. It really doesn't make sense to purchase a $100 toy for 6 months of play. Research a less expensive toy and save the rest of your money. Trust me the cost is not the issue, toddlers will play with boxes and have a blast. You understand where I am going with this. Just decide if the price is worth it and if you are going to get the use out of the toy for the price.

I bet you never thought about all of these factors when considering toddler toys? It's amazing isn't it? When I finally was blessed to become a Mom my perspective on everything changed. I became so picky and concerned about everything pertaining to my son. We want the best for our children. I have also come to the realization that it all matters to me. If you don't have a pool in your area you could always hook up a hose and sprinkler, the cost is just for the water used, and the kids usually have a lot of fun.

Another idea for summer activities is going to the local state park. The beaches, trails, camping and boating would definitely keep the kids busy for quite some time. Most parks let them bring their bikes as well.

There are other things you can do around your own house to entertain the kids during the summer. They can play sports outside, but should drink a lot of water. You could go hiking in the woods behind your house, or a friend's house. Summer afternoons are a great time to take a walk in your neighborhood, and the kids can jump through other people's sprinklers, but only those that come out to the sidewalk. It might not be such a good idea to let them run through all the lawns.

If it is a rainy day, but muggy, you could let the kids dance in the rain, even in their bathing suits. You might want to stay in side and be air conditioned and watch movie together, or even better, go to a movie together. This toy has some neat features that are helpful for playing. It has loops on the reigns to put the dolls hands into. And the saddle has stirrups for putting in the feet so it really helps to keep the doll on the horse while playing. It's also a nice big horse. It makes sounds (galloping & whinnying), which I didn't realize, but it ended up being okay because the volume is at a nice level and it only makes sounds if you push the button. It feels like there are some kind of supports in the legs and this is helpful in making the horse stand upright. This was a great Christmas present and my girls play with it often.

These toys are often handed down to new parents in the community, so it is not uncommon for wooden blocks to stay in the family for several generations.

Finally, because classic toys are imagination-centric, rather than gimmicky, they are also socially flexible. This means that the toys can be used in a variety of social settings. Children can learn how to share, work together, and build off one another's ideas. This is a crucial part of child development that modern electronic toys simply cannot do.

Get some 2 litre plastic coke bottles and some corks at craft store. Use a bicycle pump with a needle (for balls). Experiment filling the bottle with different amount of water and let your kids take turns holding the bottle: It takes off and somebody holding or pumping always gets wet! It will shoot anywhere from 40-80+ feet in the air. Excellent experiment and it teaches kids you can INVENT rather than buy (lazy) fun toys. You will have hours of fun and be the kids hero. If you want to play/learn from some amazing water rocketry and have a ton of fun at the same time this toy probably isn't the best choice. Its good for young kids. If you want a more sophisticated water bottle launcher then check out the one on ebay under "soda bottle rocket launcher". There is also a link to youtube showing a little of what this launcher can do. This launcher holds bottles at 120 psi and sends them screaming into the air when you pull the release cord. The launcher comes in a kit and all you have to supply is the materials for designing rockets. Some common tools are needed for assembly. I purchased this thing and it is quite impressive...and affordable too!!! I highly recommend this one if you want high flying rockets and durability!

For purposes of this Section 5.2, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, Franchisors withholding of consent will be considered reasonable if the proposed sale, assignment, transfer or conveyance is to an individual, company, or business entity that Franchisor deems in Franchisors sole opinion to be a competitor of Franchisors or a competitor of any affiliate of Franchisors or a competitor of any sister or co-brand company of Franchisors or a competitor of a vendor of Franchisors, another franchisor, another sub-franchisor, master franchise of another system or a Franchisee of another system which has an affiliate company that is a competitor of Franchisors. Any purported assignment without the prior written consent of Franchisor will be null and void and will constitute a material default under this Agreement.

The lion cub is very cute. We actually bought it as a family present. One eye is missing a sliver of hard material that helps to keep the eye open. We considered sending it back but decided it gives 'her' character and makes her different from all the others. So we don't mind that one eye is a little more closed. But my kids quit playing with her after a few days and went back to their inanimate, cuddly stuffed animals that they've been dragging around everywhere for years. Also, we have a lot of real animals and a robotic one does not compete very well with that. But overall it is a very sweet, cute concept.

My daughter loves this cub. She carries it around and treats it as if it were alive. A couple of times I thought she was hurting my cat and it was actually the alive cub. I highly recommend this toy, it is adorable.

My husband and I attended our church's Christmas party and they had a Chinese Gift Exchange. It was a lot of fun. Here are the rules:

1. Everyone brings a wrapped gift of the same cost (it's a good idea for some to bring an extra wrapped gift, in case someone forgets or doesn't know to bring one). At our party, they set the gift cost at a minimal $5. You could even choose to do gifts that don't cost anything... like handmade gifts, or trinkets you would like to pass on, being sure that they are nice and would be appreciated... no junk allowed. The main thing is to try and keep values the same.

2 Arrange all the gifts in a central area, being sure there is enough gifts for everyone there.

3. Count how many people are there; if there are 18 people, number 18 slips of paper 1-18 and place them in a bag.

4. Have someone bring the bag of numbered slips of paper around to each person and have them draw one number from the bag.

5. To start the exchange, have the person who drew #1 pick a gift and unwrap it. #2 can either take #1's gift, or pick a wrapped gift to unwrap. The exchange continues consecutively, each person being able to take a gift from any previous exchangers, or a new wrapped gift until all have gifts. If your gift gets taken, you can then take a new wrapped gift, or take someone else's, but not the one that was taken away from you. The exchange continues in this manner until everyone has a gift. Because #1 didn't have the opportunity to take a gift from another person, they have the choice to exchange their gift with anyone in the room after everyone has gifts.

6. Any one gift can only be 'taken' 3 times. For example, there was a mini Mag-Lite flashlight gift that all the guys wanted. They decided to let the 2nd elderly gentleman keep it, but if it had been taken away from him (3rd time), that person would have been able to keep it.

This is a lot of fun because of the variety of gifts. Because I knew there were going to be males and females, I looked for a gift that either one would appreciate, however, what makes the game funny is when a male gets a gift that a female would appreciate more, or vice versa. This is what inspires people to take another person's gift and produces lots of laughs! So there really is no need to buy gender specific gifts. Of course, you could imply a non-gender gift rule if you wish, to be sure everyone gets something they like, and it would still be fun.
